Phil:

Thanks so much for fixing the seat of my car the other day. If you recall, I came in with my BMW 318i and the front seat would not go into place for me. I was driving with the seat down! I appreciate the time you took out of your busy day to help me out!!!

And thank you also for the quality service you gave to my car a few months back.

Sincerely,
Cheryl Cutrale

Phil provided expert testimony to these folks after another shop severely damaged the engine in their daughters car:

Phil,

Jackie, Greg, I wanted to thank you for all your help on the court case. Your expertise was, I'm sure, a big deciding part of the case. The time spent IN as well as OUT of court was so appreciated. We couldn't have done it without you. There are few people in this world who would have given this the thought, determination, and time that you did. You are a good, honest person, one that businesses these days lack. It is refreshing to know there are still people like you-few and far between, but none the less, out trying to help people in need, whether it be in business or as just a fellow human that got taken for a ride by a business owner. I hope that our "chance" meeting will bring us and others we refer to you, crossing paths now and then. We can't thank you enough for all you did.

May God bless you.
Sinda, Jackie, and Greg

Phil,

After my last $50 oil change at the local Audi dealership, I was informed I would need rotors and pads but, could wait until an upcoming scheduled maintenance at 80K miles.  A good friend and fellow Audi lover said he had come to your shop a couple of times and was very pleased with the service.  I called and was surprised to get an appointment with only a 3-day wait.  For anyone not familiar with this scenario, a typical time frame is 2-4 weeks at most dealerships.

I dropped off the car and within 2 days the work was finished.  The work Zahid did was fantastic.  The car stops on a dime without the “grabiness” usually associated with a fresh brake job.

When it came time for the 80K mile service, I called to ask if that was something you could do.  Not only did you research the work Audi normally performs but, pointed out the water pump you use is of better quality (metal impellor vs. plastic) than the factory part.  Once again, I only had to wait 3 days to get an appointment and again, the work was completed in 2.  The car runs as if it was brand new.

I have to admit, when I purchased the car I vowed it would only see the inside of a dealership service garage.  You have changed my mind.  The quality of work is exceptional and your prices are unbeatable.  I think the savings on the brake work was about $600 and the 80K mile service was $1300 less.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to bash the good name of Audi or, its dealership service departments but, they are always booked and they are not cheap.  They also don’t have loaner cars for owners who did not purchase from them and let’s face it, at $15 a day, yours is not a rental, it’s a loaner.  Make sure you hang on to that 5000, it was a blast to drive and reminded me of why I fell in love with the marque.

Best regards and keep up the good work,

Dear Julie and Phil,

We just wanted to let you know how pleased we are with your service and sincerity. Purchasing our teenage son's car was not something we took lightly. But when our son Ryan saw that little black VW Jetta, there was no turning back. Fortunately, the car was thoroughly checked out by your staff and in great shape. We picked it up on Saturday morning and by afternoon he was learning to drive a 5-speed trans! And that little Jetta took all the punishment he could dish out. By Sunday he had pretty much mastered the clutch and was driving with a reasonable amount of confidence. I know he will always remember his first car...and we'll never forget his expression when he saw the "Sold to Ryan" tag hanging from the rearview mirror.

Again....thank you. And when the Jetta needs service (that clutch can't last forever) we will make a bee line to PHIL'S.

All the best to you and yours this holiday season!

Sincerely,
Phil, Claire, Ryan and Tyler Palma (Tyler is your next customer!)

From a card we received:

To someone very special...a very special thank-you.

You could have taken me to the cleaners-you chose the alternative-you were honest and resourceful.

Thank you!

An excerpt from an e-mail from one of America's finest:

Good Afternoon,

My name is Manny Aguilar, I am writing to you from Forward Operating Base Hotel in Najaf, Iraq. I am currently on my 5th month of my 7-month deployment out here with the 1st Battalion 4th Marines.

I have been interested in purchasing a car from your dealership for quite some time now. I visited your lot back in January, and your staff was incredibly helpful, and even let me take out one of your cars for a test drive. Unfortunately, a lot of things came up (which is the norm in the Marine Corps) and I wasn't able to purchase a vehicle at that time.

Well, now that I am scheduled to rotate back to the states in December, I am going to have some "time off" back in Jersey before I have to go back out to California. I was hoping to purchase a car sometime while I am home. I really love Audi's, and from what I have heard (and seen) you are probably the most reliable dealership in New Jersey.

If it is not too much trouble, I was wondering if you could keep me updated via e-mail of any new vehicles you receive. I am looking for an Audi A4 1.8T, '99 and above. I'm not married to it though, but it would be preferable. I also have some specific questions about financing options and your policy for "reserving" cars, (if a vehicle was to appear that I liked).

Well, thank you very much for your time.

Keep up the good work.

Respectfully Submitted,

Thank you to all of you at "Phil's Foreign Car Service."

Your staff is always so friendly and helpful. I really appreciate the work
you put into my car. It's a pleasure to deal with you. You make things easy
and convenient. For example, the way you accommodated me with payment and
allowed me to pick my car up after hours were both great.

You can be sure I'll continue to use Phil's FCS in the future.

(Hopefully I won't need to for a long time!)

Sincerely,
Miriam Weiss

Hi Phil,

Not to be all mushy or nothin', but ever since I basically stumbled into your shop, I have learned that I not only discovered a real service staff of auto experts, but a group of people who know know what honesty Means and who actually practice it in their work--and I'm sure in their everyday lives as well.

From where I stand, I feel as if each of you at the shop could be called friends as well as professionals. I called the shop today thinking their was an outside chance someone might be there this late on a weekend.  You had gone. Oh well. However, I WAS greeted by a message from Julie, who gave me several other good suggestions.

One was to visit your web site. Boy-O-Boy, was I impressed with what I found! So much so, by the time I finished surfing, I forgot what I needed to contact you for in the first place!

There was Phil's Auto History, Meet the Staff, send e-mails to them, Service, Testimonials. I could even visit the used car lot and see Phil's Pick of the month too! I could go on and on!

All you guys & Julie, why, even when you're not in the shop, it seems like you are!

My best to you all!

Gary

P.S. I'm still bragging about the GREAT BODY WORK and PAINTING you and Zahid did.

P.P.S. I have heard that the 1989 240 Volvo's are the best Volvo's ever made. Is that true ?

P.P.P.S.  Please let me know if you could use my 1990 740 GLE for parts. If you can use it, You can have it!

Dear Phil,

I would like to begin by thanking you and Walt for finding and fixing the interior water leak in my 1997 Passat.

I purchased the car new at Trend Motors, the local dealership in Rockaway, NJ. After having the car about a year it developed a water leak which would appear in various areas of the carpeting at different times. I scheduled an appointment at the dealer and they had a "water doctor" come in to diagnose the problem. He found and repaired a leak in the cowl area below the windshield. I was told that this leak was definitely the culprit, not possibly the sunroof as I had suggested. The carpeting dried and things were alright for awhile. Then the leaking began again and the carpeting would get saturated, usually in the passenger side rear footwell. By this time I was very frustrated. I bought this car with the intention of driving it for many years. I was totally distraught over the thought of the floors prematurely rusting through because of this leak. I take great care of the car and I am absolutely happy with it other than this annoying problem.

Being frustrated with the dealer not being able to successfully diagnose and repair the problem I recently drove the car to Phil's one morning after discovering the carpeting saturated once again. After I explained my dilemma Phil and Walt immediately stopped what they were doing and began to investigate the leak. I had not made an appointment. I had just driven in with a problem. After working on the car for a short time Phil asked if I could leave the car so they could look further into things. I said that I could definitely leave the car if they were willing to squeeze me in without an appointment.

Later the same day I received a call telling me that the leak was found and repaired. The problem indeed turned out to be a blocked sunroof drain. I went out and gladly paid the bill since I was confident the problem had been remedied and the floors would not be rusting through any time soon. Several weeks have passed and we have had a lot of rain since the car was repaired. The inside of the car is dry! No more leak! Needless to say, I am very happy and satisfied with Phil and his staff's ability to find and fix the problem. I know that I have found the shop that will be doing any repairs on my two Volkswagens from now on.

Thanks again.

Dear Phil and Julie:

I am the proud owner of a 1996 Audi A6 Quattro, which I bought used two years ago.  It had 96,000 miles on it, and I wanted to keep it going strong.  So I took it to an Audi dealership for servicing, thinking this was the best place to go.  The bills started piling up, and I was charged for services I wasn't even sure I needed.  One day, I decided to get the oil changed at Phil's, as it was much closer to home.  I was so pleased with the service, the pricing, the atmosphere, and the people that I did not go back to the dealership again.  I have been a customer of Phil's for over a year now, and my Audi is in the best shape it's been in.  Phil and his staff are meticulous and check over everything.  They go over the bill with me, so there is no question I'm getting what I need for the right price.  I recommend Phil's to anyone who has a foreign made car... don't get ripped off at the dealership!  Thanks for all your help and service, Phil and crew!

Dear Julie,

Last Saturday when my '98 VW Passat wagon started surging and bucking in mid-range acceleration speeds, I took it to a local VW dealer in Rockaway to try to find the problem and get an estimate of how much it would cost to fix it. Tuesday night, they finally figured out that the "turbo had gone bad and needed to be replaced." $1378. was the quote.

I decided to get a second opinion. I took the car to my local Texaco station and they said it didn't sound like the turbo was bad, but that they weren't experts in VW turbo's.  So, I called the another VW dealer in Somerset county and got a quote over the phone (having not seen the car themselves) of "up to $2,000 to replace a turbo."

I couldn't afford anywhere near either of those bills, and the diagnosis was suspect anyhow.  I found Phil's Foreign Car Service in the Yellow Pages and called and talked to.......Phil.  (Imagine that!)  He said it didn't sound like a turbo, (from my description), but cautioned me to bring it in and let him take a look at it.  I figured I had nothing to lose and he did specialize in Volkswagens.  I gave it a whirl.

This morning when I showed up and spoke with you, you took my keys and put the car in Phils' hands. I decided to sit and wait around and have the "bad news" confirmed, (since the dealer MUST know what the problem was after having it in their shop and on their scopes and all.)

Phil's diagnosis? A bad vacuum hose leak. I NEEDED NO NEW TURBO! After only an hour and a quarter and $138.00 dollars, he fixed it and test drove the car. No problem. PHIL'S saved me $1240.00.

We own two Passat wagons and know a lot of other VW owners as well. From now on, I won't go anywhere else for service.  I trust Phil. I'm making sure everyone that uses the local dealers knows about Phils'. If you're reading this, you should too.

Dear Julie,

I wanted to thank you for your time and help. I was in a couple of weeks ago, looking at the Audi's and a Volvo wagon. I test drove a black Audi Quattro. In the meantime, I was told about a private owner (a friend of my boss)  who was being transferred in his job back to England, and needed to sell his '98 Audi A4 Quattro. This car is also in excellent condition, and, since he was being moved, it was priced right. Thankfully, it now sits in our driveway.

Never-the-less, I was impressed with "Phil's" and I appreciated your time and your manner. It made "used car shopping" a little less of a hassle. I may very well be bringing it down to your shop for service/repairs.

Thanks again,
